Customize SDL MultiTerm 2011


You can customize the look and feel of the views in SDL MultiTerm 2011.

From the View menu choose the windows that you would like to appear in each view, as well as the colour interface that is displayed.  From the Tools menu, choose Options to define the preferred keyboard shortcuts.  For each window in SDL MultiTerm, use the drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner to define if the window will be docked or auto-hidden.

Open a Termbase in SDL MultiTerm 2011


You can open a termbase directly from your local desktop.

To open a termbase file, browse to the Termbase menu and choose the option Open Termbase.  In the Select Termbases dialog box, click Browse.  Browse to the location of the termbase file and click to highlight the filename.  Click Open.  The termbase will appear in the Select Termbases dialog box with the checkbox activated to open.  Click OK to open the termbase in SDL MultiTerm 2011.

Review and Print the Termbase Definition


Did you know that there is a very easy way to review and become familiar with the termbase definition in SDL MultiTerm 2011?

To do this, open the termbase in SDL MultiTerm 2011. Browse to the Catalog view and choose Definition from the navigation pane. The view pane will display the details of the termbase definition including a list of the termbase indexes, the fields and hierarchy of the entry structure and the names and values of the descriptive fields.  This view can be printed directly from SDL MultiTerm using the Print button.

How Complete is your Termbase?

How Complete is your Termbase?


Did you know that you can review a real-time report of the termbase statistics?

This report allows you to review how complete the termbase is for each language it contains. The statistics are displayed for each language to indicate the numbers of entries and terms that are contained within the termbase and percentage results to analyze the degree to which a language is missing content. 

The termbase statistics can be viewed by clicking the name of the termbase in the navigation pane of the Catalog view.

Type-Ahead Searching

Did you know that you can quickly browse to an entry in the termbase by typing the characters at the beginning of the source language term?

The Browse pane has been enhanced to allow type-ahead searching.  Click in the Browse pane to make it active. Type the first characters of the term.  The Browse pane will automatically browse to the term entry that begins with the characters you have typed.

Did you know that you can base the settings of a new termbase of the settings of an existing termbase?

To create a new termbase, browse to the Termbase menu and choose Create Termbase.  In the Save New Termbase dialog box, browse to choose the name and location of the termbase.  Click Save.  In the Termbase Wizard, click Next to browse to the Termbase Definition screen.  Choose the option Use an existing termbase as template.  Click Browse to browse and choose the termbase whose settings you wish to copy.  Click to activate the checkbox Copy catalog objects to the new termbase to copy the termbase catalog objects to the new termbase.  Click Next to browse through the remaining screens of the Termbase Wizard and define any additional settings.

Customize the display of Term Entries in the Hitlist


Did you know that you can define the information displayed in the Hitlist pane?

To do this, browse to the Hitlist pane, right-click and choose the option Hitlist Settings.  In the Hitlist Settings dialog box, click the Select Fields button to choose the additional context fields that you would like to display in the Term Recognition window.

Additional settings are also available to define the look and feel of the text.  Click OK to save the settings and display the content for each term entry displayed.

Duplicate Termbase Objects

Duplicate Termbase Objects


You can save significant time defining the settings of common termbase objects.

In SDL MultiTerm 2011, you can duplicate the settings of an existing termbase object by right-clicking on the object and choosing the option Duplicate.  SDL MultiTerm will automatically create a copy of the object with the same settings.  Right-click on the object and choose Edit to view and edit the settings as needed.
