What are the restrictions in SDL Trados Studio 2009 Starter Edition?
- All the restrictions of the full Freelance version from the Professional version
- Limited translation memory size (approx 50,000 words)
- Works only with SDL packages and single file documents
- Inability to create projects and process multiple files simultaneously
- SDL Trados 2007 Suite is not included - TTX and ITD files can be used and saved, but not saved out as a translated target file
- SDL MultiTerm 2009 is not included - termbases can be used, but not created, edited or any terms added

What can I do with the Starter edition?
- Work on a project package sent to you by a user on the Professional version (without any TM size restriction)
- Translate practically any file type
- Create a translation memory (although limited to 5,000 TUs) to work on your own files

Can I purchase SDL Trados Studio 2009 Starter Edition on a subscription basis?
Yes. In fact the SDL Trados Studio 2009 Starter Edition is only available on a subscription basis.
Can I use old SDL Trados Translation Memories in Studio?
No. You will be able to only use SDL Trados Studio 2009 TMs.
What happens to the Translation Memories that I create in Studio?
The TMs will be created on your desktop and will remain yours. They are not uploaded on a server and of course therefore not shared with any other user.
Can I upgrade from SDL Trados Studio 2009 Starter Edition to either the Freelance or Professional version?
